Have you ever kept a gratitude journal?
The idea behind such a journal is to contemplate on your past day and write down the things that you are grateful for.
Personally, every night before I go to bed, I write the 3 things during my day that made me smile. I also encourage my coaching clients to keep a gratitude journal and all of them report back how content they have started feeling!
But you have to write this journal every day and especially when you don’t feel like doing so, because perhaps you believe that nothing really happened to be thankful for.
If you think about your day, you will be surprised that there are always at least 3 things. The list doesn’t have to be massive though, even something like “A passenger smiled at me this afternoon as we passed by” is enough.
A massive shift happens within us when we keep such a list. Because unconsciously, we remind ourselves that good things are happening all the time, even when we don’t perceive them with our conscious (and sometimes depressed and blocked) mind.
Don’t take my word for it!
Start keeping a gratitude journal and you will soon see the difference within you.
