Life Coaching is a powerful tool that can help unlock your potential and maximise opportunities for personal growth, happiness and success. This might be in your relationship, family, career or finances, or perhaps you’re simply seeking a greater sense of peace and wellbeing in everyday life.
It all starts with a unique partnership between you and a coach, whereby the coach uses their trained knowledge and skills to empower you with tools and strategies for change. It works on the premise that every human being is born with the ability to be, do or have whatever they want in life. But, also acknowledges that negative life experiences can lead to key decisions which create blocks, manifested as fear and doubt, along the road to happiness and fulfilment.
The coaching process is about breaking down these blocks to create a smoother landscape in which positive progress can occur. A life coach may employ one or many different techniques, void of judgement or criticism, to make you aware of your self-limiting beliefs and bring you to realise your potential for productive and sustainable change. You are then free to move forward with confidence towards an effective, balanced and fulfilling life.
How is life coaching different from therapy or counselling?
Therapy and counselling are very different to life coaching, as they usually target more specific problems and/or mental health issues, and resolve such issues by investigating and unravelling related past traumas and life events.
In contrast to focussing on the past, life coaching focusses on the present and future, taking a client from where they are to where they want to be. It doesn’t ignore the past, but rather works towards changing the meanings associated to negative past events. This frees the mind of its limiting thought patterns, and creates a healthier mental environment to think freely and progressively.
